Tampnet was founded in 2001 in Stavanger, Norway and operates the world’s largest offshore high capacity communication network in the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Serving customers within oil & gas, wind energy, maritime and carrier sectors with first class telecommunications. The company employs more than 135 people, is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway and has offices in the UK, the Netherlands, USA, Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.

Tampnet connects offshore installations to redundant and reliable terrestrial networks with high capacity and low latency (high speed). Tampnet also installs and operates offshore 4G and 5G coverage networks enabling roaming and the digital transformation and internet of things (IoT) on offshore oil & gas platforms, offshore windfarms and service vessels and other commercial vessels. We are now also providing connectivity to Airlines travelling across the North Sea, through the European Aviation Network.

Tampnet Carrier is Tampnet’s European and transatlantic fibre infrastructure network, passing through 8 selected countries. Tampnet Carrier is all about connectivity, capacity, speed and milliseconds – data transfer with minimum delay - without compromising quality and reliability. Our unique network routes connect 40 vital data centres in 12 European and American cities and central hubs.

We are now looking for a Senior Network Engineer that will join Tampnet in being a key enabler to becoming climate positive. Contribute to digital optimization of business processes for customers, by enabling remote operations and reducing carbon footprint through use of sensor technologies.

Main responsibility and tasks

  • Design and implement improvements of the IP/MPLS infrastructure, network services architecture and SDWAN solutions
  • Developing and producing system architecture plans and designs, test plans, implementation plans, operation guides, and offering overall subject matter expertise for enterprise network solutions.
  • Participate in projects and designing customer solutions
  • Support installation of network equipment such as SDWAN, Firewalls, Nokia Routers, Cisco switches , Access Points and Voice solutions.
  • Collaborate with the various technical verticals such as LoS, Optical, LTE, MPLS and Fiber
  • Monitor overall network performance and initiate projects to improve network monitoring and OSS
  • Analysing network events / incidents & problem solving

 

Qualification requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Relevant experience as a Network Engineer or a similar role
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Meraki, Versa, Palo Alto, Nokia or other network hardware and software
  • Fluent in english, minimum B2/C1 level in norwegian
